Orthoptics Australia (OA) is a national organisation representing members in all states of Australia, as well as members from other countries, including New Zealand, United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. OA strives to promote and advance the discipline of orthoptics in public hospitals and ophthalmology practices, and to actively seek and implement career and work benefits and opportunities for its members.

Orthoptist

Provide clinical practice and operational supervision to work experience students, or those involved in observational clinical placements. As level of experience increases, provide clinical education for students and less experienced staff with support of senior clinical staff. Develop professional competence and acquire the theoretical knowledge and skills necessary to perform Orthoptic Services to accepted standards of professional conduct and the application of evidence based practice including, but not limited to, testing visual acuity and intraocular pressure, biometry (IOLmaster and A scan), refraction (objective and subjective), scanning and image capture, computerised visual field testing, amblyopia and squint assessments, Patient screening for diabetic retinopathy and drug toxicity. Undertake referral management in support of Ophthalmologist. Deliver as part of a multidisciplinary team, sound independent evidenced based Orthoptic services across single or multiple modalities within the Ophthalmology Team.


Gippsland Eye Centre - Orthoptist - Permanent Part Time Position

This is a permanent part-time Orthoptic position, offering a minimum of 15 hours per week with regular all-day sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays. Every fourth Monday will be at our sister clinic, Casey Eye Centre in Narre Warren. Additional sessions may become available as our patient base continues to grow.
